STE-CLAIRE, Quebec – Recently Prevost hosted its second Ride and Drive customer event in Phoenix, Arizona. The Ride and Drive was a multiple day event that allowed customers to experience first-hand new technology, safety features and amenities that a Prevost motorcoach offers. Customers from the United States and Canada spent the days testing the Prevost H3-45, and the Volvo 9700 around the test track at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving.
“The Ride and Drive event offers a unique opportunity for operators to experience features they may not have on coaches within their fleet” said Michael Power, Director of Marketing and Commercial Administration. “The operator may know about the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and the benefits it provides to the safety and comfort of his or her customers, but they truly get to experience the feature first hand at this exclusive event”.
Some of the features that customers were able to witness included the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), PRIME Energy Management System, and AWARE. All are features that increase passenger comfort and safety as well as provide driver support and overall safety of the coach.
ESP is a rollover and under/over-steer protection system that monitors the coach parameters, resulting in improved vehicle control, passenger and driver safety and overall profitability by decreasing downtime. The PRIME energy management system reduces fuel consumption by using the engine down time to charge the batteries and compress air. This provides various benefits to the customer, including improved fuel economy. Finally, the AWARE system is adaptive cruise breaking that automatically adjusts the cruise speed of the coach to maintain a safe following distance, taking into consideration the position of the vehicle ahead.
